A North Wilkesboro woman was killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger ran off the roadway, hit a tree and overturned early Saturday, February 5th.
According to a press release from the NC Highway Patrol
“On Saturday, February 5, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Wilkes County on Balls Mill Road near N.C. 115. A 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling west on Balls Mill Road, traveled left of center, ran off the road to the left, collided with a tree, and overturned.”
“The driver, Shelby Kyle Beck, 30, of Mims, Florida, was seriously injured and transported by EMS to Wilkes Medical Center. He was not restrained by a seatbelt. Alcohol impairment and reckless driving are suspected as contributing circumstances. The passenger, Bethany Morgan Burch, 28, of North Wilkesboro, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She was not restrained by a seatbelt.”
Beck has been charged with driving while impaired. Additional charges are pending an ongoing investigation and consultation with the Wilkes County District Attorney’s office.
