Iredell Deputies Nab Two From Stony Point

August 24, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

On Friday, August 21st, Iredell County Deputies responded to a home under renovation after the homeowner reported electrical wire and other property had been stolen. During the investigation, deputies located the stolen property and identified Stony Point residents, 39-year-old Tomi Joe Smith and 24-year old Jesse John Anderson, as the suspects. Both list a Lackey Farm Road address. Approximately $2,000 worth of stolen property was recovered.

Smith and Anderson were each charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Felony Possession of Burglary Tools. Both received a $10,000 secured bond. Anderson was also served with an outstanding Failure to Appear and received an additional $3,000 secured bond.

On Sunday, August 23rd, while conducting a security check at a home under construction on Rolling Meadows Drive, deputies encountered Robert Lee Autry of Troutman near the property. The suspect was paroled from prison on July 10th from a 2025 felony conviction for obtaining property by false pretense. During the investigation, deputies located a bag containing tools commonly used to cut and strip copper wiring and determined Autry had come to the property intending to break in and steal copper wire according to a press release.

Autry was charged with Felony Attempted Breaking and Entering and Felony Possession of Burglary Tools. He received a $15,000 secured bond.
