Inmate Escapes Lincoln Correctional Center…Updated

North Carolina Corrections and law enforcement officers are searching for Roy W Burgess Jr who escaped Sunday afternoon from Lincoln Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison in Lincolnton.

Burgess, 42, is believed to be in the Dallas or Gastonia area of Gaston County and may be seeking help from friends or relatives.

Burgess was serving a one-to-two-year sentence for larceny. He has a record of low-level felonies going back nearly 20 years.

Burgess is 5 feet 11 inches tall with brown hair, blue eyes, a beard and weighs about 180 pounds. He has the letters BNG tattooed on his neck, along with other tattoos on his hands and arms. He may be bleeding from cuts to his body.
