Wilkes County Shooting Reported

One man has been shot and a suspect has been charged in Wilkes County.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office dispatched Deputies to a location on Shingle Gap Road, in Millers Creek on Thursday evening around 9pm. 22-year-old Christopher Chance Johnson was found lying in the front yard of the residence. He was suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Johnson was airlifted to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. No condition update is available.

The investigation led to the arrest of Garrett Kain Moore, age 22 of North Wilkesboro. He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling. Moore is being held in the Wilkes County Detention Center with bond set at $150,000.
