Alexander Central Softball And Baseball Open League Play With Wins On Friday

Alexander Central 10 St Stephens 0

Hickory: Kyla Hamby pitched a 1-hit shutout and struck out 10 as the Lady Cougars opened the 2026 Northwestern Conference season on Friday.

Hamby went 3 of 4 at the plate with and rbi and two runs scored. Her sister Ava went 2 for 2 with a homer. Lyla Mayberry went 3 of 4 and Jenna Mason drove-in a pair of runs.

AC improves to 5-1 and 1-0.

Varsity Baseball

Alexander Central 10 St Stephens 7

The Diamond Cougars led 9-2 after five innings and held off the Tribe for the win. Jude Carter and Graham Hoke led AC at the plate, both had 3 hits and a rbi. Carter got the win on the mound.

The Cougars open league play with a victory and push their record to 7-1.
