Hickory Police Investigating Fatal Shooting…Updated With Arrest Information

Hickory Police are investigating a fatal shooting.

Officers responded on Friday just before 9pm to an apartment complex on 2nd Street Court SW. No official information has been released but media accounts say at least one person is dead and multiple others were wounded.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office are also investigating in incident.

9:22 am update from Hickory Police

At approximately 8:50pm on March 13, Hickory officers responded to reports of a shooting where Donnie Morgan, 36, of Hickory, was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Two additional victims, Michael Wilfong, 54, of Hickory, and Deangelo Morgan, 39, of Conover, were transported to local hospitals with gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, Investigators learned that Melvin Ramseur, 28, was responsible for the shooting. Ramseur has been charged with one count of Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder. Ramseur was placed in the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
