The Lady Cougars never led the game in Boone. Watauga jumped out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter and left cold-shooting Alexander Central at bay . AC shot only 30 percent in the game as they dropped the Northwestern Conference contest. Brooke Scheffler led Watauga with 19 points. Kirstyn Herman had 15 and Chesney Stikeleather 13 for the Lady Cougars who fall to 1-1 in league play and 13-2 overall. Watauga is 2-0 and 14-1.

After an ugly start and down 9-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Cougars recovered and led 17-15 at the break. The second-half was all Blue and Gold outpacing the Pioneers 24-12. AC spent a lot of time at the free-throw line making 15 of 24 attempts. Evan Presnell had 17 including 7 of 8 from the charity stripe. Jonah Martin was tops for Watauga with 12 who fall to 0-2 and 4-10. The Cougars are 2-0 and 14-2.
