On Sunday, a Deputy responded to Harris Bridge Road in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the officer began speaking with the homeowner about the situation and together they reviewed surveillance footage and it was determined a chainsaw had been taken.
Deputies canvassed the area and found a siphon hose and a gas can, which the suspect was using to steal gas from vehicles on the property. Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team Deputies and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded and established a perimeter. The Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit arrived and deployed the drone while Sergeant Hodges deployed a K9 officer to track the suspect.
Deputies found the suspect coming out of a wooded area on Harris Bridge Road ahead of the K9 officer. The suspect, identified as Jacob Lloyd Fountain, was taken into custody by officers. The K9 officer found the stolen property in a wooded area.
Fountain was incarcerated in the Iredell County Detention Center under $12,500 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today. A District Court appearance is scheduled for February 7.
