Virginia Man Who Was Shot In Alexander County In 2021 Now In Custody

A Virginia man is in Alexander County custody and facing charges that date back to 2021.

On Wednesday, 21-year old Demarcus Denell Broadnax of Danville, Virginia was transferred from Virginia custody to the Alexander County Detention Center. Broadnax was served warrants dating to April, 2021. He’s charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon related to a double-shooting incident north of Taylorsville on April 6th 2021. Broadnax was one of two men shot at a location on Taylor Ridge Road, off Old Wilkesboro Road. Then Sheriff Chris Bowman called the shooting a drug-deal gone bad.

A search warrant of the residence on Taylor Ridge Rd was executed following the shooting. The search led to the discovery of approximately 350 pounds of vacuum-sealed packages containing marijuana and various concentrated forms of THC that are derived from marijuana, including wax. The street value of the illegal substances totaled a then street value of $525,000. Cash, totaling approximately $240,000, was also seized from the residence.

Broadnax is being held under a secured bond of $200,000.
