Another scam has been reported in Alexander County. This time, it’s personal. It was myself that reported it.
I was not home today when a call went to voicemail on my home phone. The call indicated that unless I paid a sum of $30,000, I would be killed. It instructed me NOT to contact law enforcement and was emphatic that “this is not a scam.”
I reported the call to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and after some investigation they confirmed that the number used was part of a hoax that has been reported across the nation. The call is from an overseas location although the number traced to Chicago. I am almost 100 percent certain that it’s nothing to be worried about but I thought it might be worthwhile to pass on to the public. It does give me a bit of pause to hear the words over the phone that “our people are following you and will kill you” and “maybe you’ve noticed them on the streets.” I went for my daily hike and they had a great opportunity to take me out. I guess they passed, they can “BITE ME” at their earliest convenience.
