On April 27, a Public Safety Officer responded to a lodging establishment on Burkemont Avenue in Morganton to serve a warrant. Burke County Adult Protective Services initially called, notifying Public Safety that Xayavong had an unserved warrant in a vehicle theft case and he was staying at the establishment. The suspect was taken into custody.
Xayavong was already facing charges in Burke County including counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and misdemeanor simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance. District Court dates are scheduled for June 10 and June 14 in District Court and June 3 in Superior Court. Xayavong’s criminal history includes multiple felony drug convictions in Burke County in 2008.
Xayavong was brought to the Burke County Jail and was initially confined without bond on a 48-hour hold. His first District Court date on the vehicle theft charge was scheduled on April 29. No upcoming court dates were listed.
