Man Killed In Caldwell County Crash

March 11, 2022 By Richard C. Gilbert

A Lenoir man died in a Caldwell County crash on Wednesday.

78-year-old James Junior Rich was pronounced dead at the scene of the mishap on Highway 18. The NC Highway Patrol says Rich’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The Highway Patrol indicates the initial investigation does not indicate speed or alcohol impairment as contributing factors. No charges are expected.
