A Deputy stopped a vehicle driven by 33-year old Corey Allen Leazer off Oakridge Farm Road in Mooresville for a traffic violation at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Leazer then proceeded to drive-off, nearly hitting and dragging the deputy, who fired his service weapon at the suspect. The Deputy, who was dragged approximately 15 to 20 feet, was not seriously injured.
Leazer fled and and other responding Deputies gave chase until, in the interest of safety, the pursuit was terminated.
The suspect truck was found later in Davidson.
A warrant has been issued charging Leazer with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. He is also be charged with felony flee to elude arrest, misdemeanor resist or delay an officer and multiple traffic violations.
Leazer’s recent criminal history shows charges including obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of possession of stolen property, conspiracy, larceny, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of cocaine.

***UPDATE *** The suspect is now in custody. Around 8:20 a.m., the Town of Davidson updated residents through social media, the suspect was in custody after alerting them earlier that the wanted man was thought to be in the area.
