STATESVILLE – Bridge maintenance work will affect traffic on I-40 East in Statesville this week so N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews can replace a steel plate joint on the bridge over U.S. 21 in Statesville.
To complete the work safely, crews will close three inside lanes on I-40 East at 9 p.m. tonight, temporarily moving traffic to the ramp to exit 151 (U.S. 21/I-77.) Drivers will not be detoured to these roads but will remain on the ramp to get past the work area back on to I-40 East.
Lane closures will be removed by 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The closures are planned from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night through Friday morning, April 19.
