Hickory Man Will Not Be Charged In “Road Rage” Shooting

A Hickory man will not face charges after what was termed a “road rage” shooting in Valdese.

The District Attorney of Burke County, David Learner released the results of an investigation on Tuesday. Joseph Mark Harrison, age 58 shot Joshua Max Barnes following an altercation between the two men on Main Street in Valdese on October 4th. Harrison pulled his vehicle over on Main Street to give Barnes room to drive by him, according to a news release. Barnes is said to have punched Harrison multiple times after exiting his vehicle and walking to Barnes’ vehicle. Harrison fired one shot at close range striking Barnes in the shoulder. Barnes who suffered a non life-threatening injury was charged with assault and battery.
