The former Hickory Daily Record building has been sold to a Winston-Salem-based group. The newspaper staff will move to a new office in Hickory.
The 75,000-square-foot building, located at 1100 11th Ave. Blvd. SE off Lenoir Rhyne Boulevard, was sold to Conwest Holdings LLC on May 12 for $1,937,500, according to Catawba County real estate records.
The registered agent for Conwest Holdings is Joe Joseph, Jr., a Hickory native.
Conwest Holdings bought the 37-year-old building and surrounding 6.87 acres from BH Media Group, former owner of the Hickory Daily Record. BH Media, then known as World Media Enterprises Inc., bought the building and land in 2012 for $3,340,000.
The building formerly housed the printing, advertising and newsroom. Printing was relocated to another site years ago.
The Hickory Daily Record offices are moving to 1213 16th Street NE in Hickory.
The Hickory Daily Record is owned by Lee Enterprises, which has nine newspapers in North Carolina and more than 70 nationwide.
