Brookford Police Searching For Murder Suspect

The Brookford Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for a 34-year-old Brookford man in connection with a homicide investigation.

Police say Joshua Ray Begley is wanted on charges of murder, concealment of death, and possession of a firearm by a felon during the commission or attempted commission of a felony. The charges stem from the death of 79-year-old Claude Wayne Holsclaw, also known as “Doc.” Investigators found human remains buried at a property on 4th Street Place SW and they have since been identified as those of Holsclaw.

The Brookford Police Department, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and other assisting agencies, are actively searching for Begley.

Authorities say Begley should not be approached and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Brookford Police Department at (828) 358-2025 or call 911.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
