An Alexander County business suffered significant damage in an early morning fire. Hiddenite, Stony Point, Taylorsville, and Wittenburg Fire Departments responded around 3am to Hickory Springs Manufactoring in Hiddenite.
Alexander County Fire Marshall Russell Greene says the there was some sort of combustion that started the fire. The building was unoccupied at the time but the sprinkler system activated an alarm. Greene said lots of smoke filled the building and damage was done to the manufactoring process along with damage to the roof. Firefighters had to use air packs as the building was full of smoke. Greene praised the response and work of the fire units.
