Greene submitted a letter of resignation to the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. It comes after months of controversy and calls for his resignation, perhaps the loudest calls from his fellow Republicans.
Greene has been under fire since an arrest became public this Spring. By his own admission, he attended a dog fight in New Jersey and was charged. In April, the All Republican Board asked him to step down, he refused.
The roar got even louder after an April 28th incident when warrants were issued for Greene’s arrest. The warrants were in the name of his stepdaughter and wife. The charges involved domestic criminal trespass. A domestic violence protection order was issued after the arrest.
