County Seeking Proposals From Internet Service Providers

March 15, 2019 By Richard C. Gilbert

The Alexander County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) is currently seeking proposals from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who are interested in participating in a Broadband Pilot Program in Alexander County.

The ACEDC was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission in order to expand broadband services. The grant requires the selected ISP to match the grant with an additional $50,000. In addition, Alexander County Government will provide in-kind matching funds up to $36,470.
With the award of this grant, it is expected that this Broadband Pilot Program will result in the expansion of broadband services and will impact an estimated 400 businesses and 3,000 households in the county.
Proposals are due from interested ISPs on April 11, and the grant will be awarded by April 30.

For more information, read the complete Request for Proposals at www.AlexanderEDC.org/broadband.
