Alexander Central Senior Defensive standout Isaac Chapman is spending the week in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Chapman was selected in November to participate in the 2018 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas to be played Saturday at Wofford College. Chapman last week was named the Northwestern Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row. The bruising defensive lineman has yet to commit to play college football and hopes to attract some more offers in front of college scouts this week. Both the North Carolina and South Carolina teams are practicing each day.

Chapman is the sixth Cougar to earn the prestigious honor of playing in the Shrine Bowl. Rodger King was selected in 1975 as the first ever to represent ACHS in the event then played in Charlotte. Dennis Walker in 1976, Butch Clark in 1983, and Kyle Linney and Josh Reese in 2006 also were selected.
