Catawba County Bridge To Be Replaced Later This Month

June 10, 2022 By Richard C. Gilbert

HICKORY – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close part of a Catawba County road for about 10 months for a bridge replacement project.

Beginning June 20, Old Shelby Road will be closed near Greedy Highway Road to allow crews to safely replace the bridge over Camp Creek. Work is expected to be complete by April 2023.

A detour will be in place using Greedy Highway, Hudson and Providence Church roads. Residents living near the work zone will still have access to their driveways during the closure.

Motorists should remain alert when approaching the work zone and slow down to adjust to the detour.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
