The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office along with Taylorsville Police has conducted an ongoing drug investigation involving Matthew Wood and April Atwood since early in 2024. On April 4th, Officers went to the residence where Wood and Atwood reside and served warrants for trafficking methamphetamine. Officers found additional controlled substances leading to multiple charges.
On Thursday, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Byron Wood, age 41 of Taylorsville. He is charged with Two counts of maintaining a dwelling to sell controlled substance, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, and 3 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Wood was placed under a $150,000 secured bond with an initial district court appearance on April 8th.Aaron Lee Horrocks, age 47 of Granite Falls, was arrested and charged with maintaining a dwelling to sell controlled substance, trafficking methamphetamine, simple possession of schedule VI, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Horrocks was placed under a $75,000 secured bond with a first district court appearance on April 8th. April Dawn Atwood, age 44 of Taylorsville, was arrested and charged with two counts of maintaining a dwelling to sell controlled substance, two of counts trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine, simple possession of schedule VI, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and two counts possession of drug paraphernalia. Atwood was placed under a $200,00 secured bond with a district court appearance on April 8th.
