Despite a frigid start shooting in the first quarter (3 of 15) Alexander Central trailed by only 2 points at the half. They took control of the game in the second half shooting 50 percent and moved within a half-game of first place in the Northwestern Conference. Julianna Walter led ACHS with 27 points including 13 of 16 at the free-throw line. Chesney Stikeleather added 10. Watauga lost their 2nd game in as many nights and falls to 5-2 in conference and 17-3 for the season. With the win the Lady Cougars improve to 4-2 and 16-3.

Evan Presnell poured in 33 points including 7 of 10 from behind the three-point line and ACHS staked their claim to the outright conference lead Tuesday night in Taylorsville. Watauga trailed only 46-42 after three quarters to see the Cougars blow by them 25-14 in the closing period. Grove Lowrance had 14 points and 8 rebounds and Avery Cook added 12 points for AC. Jonah Martin led Watauga with 22. The Cougars were 20-24 from the free-throw line. The win puts Alexander Central at 5-1 in league play and 17-3 overall. Watauga drops to 2-5 and 6-13.
