A call was received by Iredell County Emergency Communications at 7:40 a.m. from 113 Northampton Drive from a family member of a suspect saying he was acting crazy. Local fire personnel arrived on the scene and encountered Dylan Rober Maslon. Maslon brandished a knife at the fire personnel and they retreated out of the home and called for Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies to respond to assist.
When the deputies arrived they heard yelling from inside the home. They entered and were met by 27-year old Dylan Maslon who shot at the deputies. The deputies returned fired. After seeking cover, the deputies attempted to communicate with the suspect. The suspect fired additional shots at the deputies.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team was activated to the location. The Mooresville Police Department responded to assist in establishing a perimeter and securing the scene. A deputy received an injury as a result of the suspect’s gunfire. The deputy and taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Maslon continued to shoot at law enforcement vehicles and deputies. A robot was deployed into the residence and located the suspect in an upstairs room, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team members immediately entered the home and attempted to provide medical care, the suspect was deceased.The scene was secured, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate the incident, which is standard protocol for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy was treated and will be released.
Maslon was currently out on bond for assault on government official, felony breaking and entering to terrorize or injure.
