A search is being conducted for an overdue hiker on the China Creek Trail in Blowing Rock. 67 year old, Frank Senady, of Charlotte, reportedly entered the China Creek Trail at noon on February 9, 2019. China Creek Trail begins at a marked trail head on Laurel Lane in Blowing Rock and descends several hundred feet in elevation, ending on Johns River Road. The trail, which is extremely rugged terrain, is located in Pisgah National Forest. Senady is said to be an experienced hiker and was thought to have some supplies. Senady was last seen wearing a red long sleeve shirt, khaki pants and blue Patagonia hat.
Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue, Blowing Rock Police Department, Caldwell Emergency Management, Caldwell County Admin, Collettsville Fire and Rescue, Granite Falls Fire and Rescue, Linville Rescue, US Park Ranger are involved in the search. Linville Rescue has provided a K9 team and Granite Falls Fire Department has provided a drone, equipped with thermal imaging capabilities.
