Woman From Taylorsville Sent To Jail

An Alexander County woman is is in custody, her route there is a bit complicated.

On Monday, August 28th, 39-year old Kelly Renee Collins was sentenced to serve 120 days in detention for probation violation. She was placed in the Alexander County Jail.

Collins appealed the ruling and was granted a $25,000 bond pending the appeal. Before leaving the detention center, Collins was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She now faces that charge and felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. With the new charges, her bond was increased to $60,000. As of earlier today she remains in custody.

Her next court date is scheduled for September 5th. A September 9th court date is also scheduled in connection with a charge of felony obtaining property by false pretense and felony identity theft.
