Catawba County Man Charged With Discharging Firearm Last Weekend On Catawba County School Campus

ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴡʙᴀ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ, ɴᴄ — On Monday, October 19, items were located on the property of Sherrills Ford Elementary School indicating that a firearm had been discharged on school grounds. Investigators reviewed school surveillance footage and determined that an adult male had discharged a firearm on Sunday, October 18, while school was not in session. No students or school staff were present at the time of the incident.

On October 20, investigators utilized Flock Safety cameras to identify the suspect as David Carlos Davidson, 52, a Sherrills Ford resident. On Thursday, October 22, Davidson was arrested and served with warrants charging him with Discharging a Firearm on Educational Property, Possession of a Firearm on Educational Property, and Cruelty to Animals. Davidson received an $8,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Catawba County District Court on 10/23/2026.
