A man already awaiting trial on a felony drug charge is back in jail. 39-year-old Caleb Levi Garland of Deer Run RR., Hiddenite, was taken into custody on Thursday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held without bond due his being on pre-trial release from a February charge for felony possession of meth. He was also charged in June when he was cited with felony littering hazardous waste and possession of drug paraphernalia. Those offenses stem from the suspect allegedly trying to conceal a book bag containing drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue while on courthouse property.
Garland has a long list of previous charges and convictions.
