Victim Of Fatal Shooting At Outlaws Clubhouse In Newton Is Identified

The victim of a fatal shooting Sunday morning in Newton has been identified.

Newton Police and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to shots fired at the Outlaw Motorcycle Club on North Main around 2am. Investigators say at least three dozen bullets were fired from mutiple weapons.

Jordan Cassel, 32 of Albemarle, died at the hospital. The second victim was airlifted to a regional medical center and remains in critical condition. 

When officers arrived, they were met with about 30 individuals who were believed to be armed according to Catawba County Sheriff’s office Major Aaron Tuck. The shooting possibly involved a dispute between two motorcycle gangs, according to a media report. The establishment has been an area of concern for suspected gang activity in the past.
