Hudson: Alexander Central left no doubt in a rout over rival South Caldwell Friday night. With the win ACHS completes a turnaround season and earns a share of the Northwestern Conference title.
Junior Jaquis Parks ran for 204 yards on 11 carries and scored 3 touchdowns. Eli Queen, Cole Pennell and Xander Pinnix found the end zone for the Cougars on a night when the Blue and Gold piled-up 387 yards on just 24 carries.
Pinnix would add a touchdown from 57 yards on a jet sweep which is scored as a pass.
Alexander Central’s defense held South Caldwell to only 88 yards of total offense while the visitors from Alexander County amassed 451 yards.
Coach Chris Marshall’s team went from 3-8 in 2025 to 8-2 and a share of the league’s top spot with Freedom and Watuga, all at 3-1. It’s likely AC will earn a first round bye in the upcoming playoffs and a round II home game.
South goes 3-7 and 1-4.
The state playoff pairings are due for release on Saturday.
