Two juveniles fled from a group home located within the city limits of Troutman on Monday. The juveniles allegedly went to Troutman Tire and Auto where they took the vehicle of an employee and fled the area. The employee called 911 and first responding officers used the Flock camera system to see that the vehicle had been spotted in Mooresville a few moments prior to officers arriving to take the report.
A “Be On The Lookout” was issued to the Mooresville Police Department who found the vehicle unoccupied in the parking lot of Walmart on Norman Station Boulevard. Mooresville Police Department officers staged and were able to find the juveniles as they returned to the vehicle where they were detained.
The North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice declined to take the offenders into secured custody. The juveniles were then returned to the group home and will face charges in Juvenile Court for larceny of a motor vehicle.
