A man was shot to death Thursday evening in Iredell County.
52-year old James Donavan Pope was shot in the chest at a location on Molly Lane in Statesville. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says Pope was assaulting his wife when he was confronted by a family member. A struggle ensued between the two men, and a shot was fired striking Pope.
The results of the investigation will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.
