Thursday evening, shortly before midnight, the Iredell County Emergency Communications Center received a call from 103 Molly Lane, Statesville in reference to a shooting. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the location.
Responding deputies arrived and located a victim who had a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim was transported to a local medical facility where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses at the scene indicate the deceased male was assaulting his wife when confronted by a family member. A struggle ensured between the two men, and a shot was fired striking the deceased in the chest.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Evidence gathered at the home, and through interviews from witnesses confirmed the initial statement.
The investigation results will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for review to determine if any charges will be brought forward.
