Unemployment Drops In Alexander County

Unemployment dropped by more than 1 percent during the month of October in Alexander County.

The North Carolina Department of Commerce released the latest unemployment figures on December 2nd showing the rate of joblessness dropped in all 100 counties.

Alexander.5.4 down from 6.3 in September….The rate was 3.1 in October 2019
Caldwell….6.6 down from 7.5 in September
Catawba…..6.2 down from 7.2 in September
Iredell………5.8 down from 6.7 in September
Wilkes……..5.3 down from 5.8 in September

Statewide the unemployment rate was reported at 6.1 percent, down from 6.9 in September. Scotland County had the highest rate in the state at 10.5, Watauga was the lowest at 4.1.
