On November 4th, at approximately 12:42 am, Troutman Police Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Charlotte Highway at the I-77 on-ramp. When speaking with the driver, Douglas Scott Groce, 56, of Statesville, officers observed narcotics paraphernalia in plain view. A search of the vehicle was conducted, where 30 grams of methamphetamine, along with 6 grams of cocaine, were found. Groce was placed under arrest for trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell/distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of cocaine, and felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances. Groce was taken before a magistrate and ordered held in custody on a $300,000 secured bond.
