A Taylorsville man is in custody following a high speed chase early Tuesday morning.
Caldwell County Deputies pursued a vehicle before losing sight of the suspect. Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies spotted the vehicle on Highway 64-90 traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. Following a brief pursuit the suspect stopped.
25-year old Shawn Dewayne Leyva of Taylorsville was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance, speeding to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving, driving with license revoked, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Leyva was placed in he Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $25,000. Additional charges are anticipated in Caldwell County.Photo: Alexander County Sheriff’s Office
