On Sunday, October 25th at approximately 01:59 a.m., The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on Campground Road near Forney Hill Road, in Lincoln County. A 2008 Rav 4 was traveling West on Campground Road, crossed the centerline, and side swiped a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. After side swiping the Tucson, the Rav 4 drove off the left side of the roadway and collided with a power pole.
The driver of the Rav 4, William Rakestraw Beardslee IV, 22, of Denver, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the Hyundai, Soumalia Ouedraogo, 44, of Denver, was transported by EMS to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Impairment is suspected as a contributing factor in the collision. There will be no charges in this case.
