Richard Adrian Moody

In January, Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business in Troutman in reference to a breaking and entering.

According to the business owner, an unknown suspect had broken into the business by breaking a window. The owner went on to say the suspect had used power tools to cut open two safes in the business. The report indicated several items were stolen including a diamond ring, and a firearm.

Using DNA evidence from the crime-scene, a suspect was identified as 50-year old Richard Adrian Moody of 132 Happy Lane in Statesville. Moody had once been employee at the business. Arrest warrants against Moody for: Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, and Two Counts of Felony Safe Cracking were obtained.

On February 2, Iredell County Deputies responded to a domestic incident at the home of Moody. Moody fled on foot before the deputies arrived on scene. The victim told the responding deputies Moody assaulted her, and choked her. Based on the physical evidence at the scene, and statements from witnesses, arrest warrants were obtained for Moody’s arrest for: Felony Assault by Strangulation. He was entered as a Wanted Person.

On Saturday, February 5, Moody was located in Lincoln County, and arrested without incident. He was then transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center where he received a $50,000 secured bond.

Moody was then transported back to the Iredell County Detention Center where he received an additional $40,000 secured bond for the Felony Assault by Strangulation Warrant.
