1973: A seven member select committee was named by Congress to investigate the Watergate scandal. Sam Ervin of Morganton was the chairman of that committee
1993: General Motors sues NBC after the network allegedly rigs two crashes intended to demonstrate that some GM pickups can easily catch fire if hit in certain places. NBC settles the lawsuit the next day

I still don’t consider Tom Brady the GOAT but he wins. The Super Bowl was all about the defense played by Tampa Bay. I never dreamed that Patrick Mahomes could be shut down. Those missing offensive lineman haunted the Chiefs. Tampa Bay deserved it, they out-coached and out-played the Chiefs
