Newton Police Charge Conover Man With Rape Of Child

A Conover man has been charged with the rape of a child.

On Friday, Newton Police arrested 22-year old Darwin Aguilar Vasquez and charged him with felony statutory rape of a child age 15 or younger, felony statutory rape of a child by an adult and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child. Vasquez is in the custody of the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $300,000. An initial court appearance is set for Monday.
