Tyler Nikolas Mackenzie, age 23, was admitted to a hospital after he crashed his motorcycle in Irdell County. The chase began around 1:30 am when Taylorsville Police attempted stop a motorcycle for traffic violations. The chase covered Linneys Mountain Road and Rocky Springs Road. Mackenzie lost control of the bike and crashed. He tried to flee on foot but was quickly captured.
When Mackenzie was released from medical treatment on Thursday he was taken into custody. Among the charges:
Resisting Arrest
Eluding arrest with a motor vehicle with aggravating factors
Reckless driving to endanger
Reckless driving with wanton disregard
Multiple counts of speeding
Failure to stop for a red light
Driving left of center
He was placed in Alexander County Detention Center and later released with a secured bond of $20,000.
Mackenzie has previous charges pending in Alexander County for speeding, driving while license revoked, expired registration card/tag, reckless driving to endanger. He also has pending charges in Caldwell County for possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
