November 16, 2020 By Richard C. Gilbert

The City of Hickory had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Saturday, November 14th and Sunday, November 15th. An estimated 1.47 million gallons were discharged on River Road into the Henry Fork River. This discharge was caused by heavy rain and flooding in the area.

The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event and is reviewing the matter. The city says the water remains safe after the overflow.
