Lenoir Man Ordered To Serve 15 Years In Prison

June 28, 2023 By Richard C. Gilbert

Jeremy David Greene

A Caldwell County man has been sentenced to prison time on federal weapon and drug charges. U.S. Attorney Dena J. King announced Tuesday that 47-year-old Jeremy David Greene of Lenoir was ordered to serve 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release. He was convicted on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to information in court documents and Tuesday’s sentencing hearing, in April 2022, law enforcement received information that Greene was selling large amounts of methamphetamine in Caldwell County. Greene also had outstanding arrest warrants for state law violations.

On April 14, 2022, law enforcement spotted Greene driving his vehicle in Lenoir. Court records show that law enforcement officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of Greene’s vehicle, but Greene ignored law enforcement and sped away. During the pursuit Greene’s vehicle tires were flattened by stop sticks that were deployed by Deputies. The pursuit ended when Greene’s vehicle came to a stop on Connelly Springs Road near Orchard Drive.

According to court records, law enforcement searched Greene’s vehicle and seized more than 500 grams of meth, a 9mm pistol, 36 rounds of ammunition, and more than $11,900 in cash. Greene has prior felony convictions, including assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement, and he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

Greene is currently in federal custody, he was being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility as of earlier today (June 28). He will be transferred to the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a facility. In making Tuesday’s announcement, U.S. Attorney King commended the ATF and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office for their investigation of the case and thanked the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office for their invaluable assistance and coordination.
