Unemployment dropped in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 counties during the month of February according to latest figures released by the State Department of Commerce.
Alexander County saw it’s rate of joblessness fall from 3.7 percent in January to 3.6 percent. The statewide unemployment rate was 4.2 percent compared to 4.5 in January. The lowest unemployment rate in the state is in Buncombe County at 3.2 percent, Hyde County has the highest rate at 12.5 percent.
