Hudson: Alexander Central finished their regular season with a win and a regular season co-conference title !
AC led from tip-to-buzzer and forced 23 Spartan turnovers with a relentless press that helped produce 14 fast break points. The senior duo of Meredith Wike and Malayah Adams led the scoring with 17 and 14. Maggie Wilkes was South’s top scorer with 10.
The Lady Cougars are 21-2 and 9-1 in Northwestern Conference play. The league mark locks them with McDowell who defeated Freedom 63-36. ACHS coach Jon Presnell says a coin-flip will be conducted Saturday to determine the top-seed in next week’s conference tournament.

The game was all about runs. South scored the game’s first 10 points to see the Blue and Gold battle back with an 8-0 answer. The host team was up 25-15 at the half, then came the crucial 3rd quarter. The Cougars won the period 22-8 and held-off the Spartans in a hard-fought emotional, rivalry game.
Noah VanBeurden led AC with 20 points, including 5 baskets from beyond the arc. Fellow senior Jaheim Redmond added 17. South (15-8, 5-5) was led by Carter Anderson with 17 and the home team’s bench out-paced the Cougars 25-0 ! Alexander Central ends the regular season at 14-9 and 6-4 in-league.
