Alexander Central 11 South Caldwell 7
Taylorsville: The Lady Cougars used the long-ball to beat their rivals from South Caldwell for the second time this season.
Alexander Central entered the game ranked #1 in the state, South was ranked 2nd. The game was less than sterling on defense but didn’t disappoint on offense in particular the ringing bats for the Lady Cougars. Kensley Davis hit pair of homers including a tape measure shot, Jenna Mason slugged two out of the park and Alyssa Chapman also had a round tripper.
Mason put AC on top in the first inning with a two-run shot. The score stayed 2-0 until South scored 6 unearned runs in the 3rd. Alexander Central’s defense has been an issue at times this season and it was less than tight Friday night.
AC got 3 in the bottom of the 3rd and were back within 6-5. They would add 3 in the 4th and 3 in the 6.
Davis was 3-4 with 4 rbi, Mason went 3-5 driving in 5.
Macy Law got the win going the last five innings allowing 3 runs with only one earned.
ACHS is 19-1 and 8-0 in the Northwestern Conference while South falls to 17-2 and 6-2.
Odds are these two will see each other again in the conference tournament and perhaps in the state playoffs.
