Former Taylorsville Resident Dies As Result Of Wilkes County Shooting

A former Taylorsville resident has died as the result of a Wilkes County Shooting. Ahmad Tyree Carlton, age 24, died on June 6th at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Carlton was shot on May 8th in the parking lot of Muzz’s Gym in North Wilkesboro.

A suspect in the shooting, Isaiah Kwasean Graham, of North Wilkesboro, turned himself in at the Wilkes County Jail on May 13. Graham is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with the intent to kill, going armed and causing terror to the public, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm in city limits.

Another male was wounded in the incident. His name has not been released but he’s been released from medical care.

Carlton, a former Taylorsville resident listed his most recent address in Wilkesboro according to North Wilkesboro Police Chief Brad Mathis.

In a phone conversation on Monday, Chief Mathis declined to speculate on the motive for the shootings nor comment on the possibility of the incident being gang-related.
