A Newton man and a Taylorsville woman charged last week in Alexander County with child-sex crimes are scheduled to appear in court today in Taylorsville.
Colan Lewis Swink age 44 of Newton was taken into custody last Tuesday by Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies. He was charged with 25 counts of Felony Statutory Rape, 25 counts of Felony Sex Offenses and 109 counts of Felony Sex Acts by a Substitute Parent/Custodian. Swink’s bond was set at $5,000,000.00. Also charged was Tammy Reedy Brown, age 49 of Taylorsville. She faces a count of Felony Conspiracy of a Sex Act by a Substitute Parent/Custodian. Her bond was set at $75,000.00 secured.The alleged crimes occurred while the two were living as a couple in Alexander County and over a period of time dating from 2012 to 2016. Brown is said to be the mother of the victim.
Sheriff Chris Bowman says Swink admitted to authorities in Catawba County that he had engaged in sex-acts with the daughter of his ex-girlfriend.
Both Swink and Brown remain in the Alexander County Detention Center
