Alexander Central 14 Hickory 3
Playing like they’re irked about being seeded fourth in the Catawba Valley East Baseball Classic, Alexander Central humbled the top seed Hickory Tuesday evening 14-3.
The Cougars scored a dozen times in the opening inning to make it a no-doubter.
Caleb Williams hit a homer and had 3 runs batted in. Maddox Jack who got the win added a pair of rbi as did Jarret Hoppes and Nathan Pope.
The Cougars advance to the championship game this evening against Newton Conover who entered the event as the seventh seed. The Red Devils beat St Stephens 2-1.
Alexander Central will carry a 10 game winning streak into the final, they’re 14-4 on the season.
The title game will be played at 6:30 pm at Henkel Alley Field located at the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds in Newton.
